I look forward to more. The topic has a personal interest for me, as I'm toying with the idea of a fictionalised autobiography.stuartaken.nethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05695584662320617659noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3744476144670229998.post-9970250902425810972010-11-25T20:53:51.925+00:002010-11-25T20:53:51.925+00:00Stuart, 2 things come to mind when reading your po...Stuart, 2 things come to mind when reading your post:
1) I think it is critical when reading/viewing news about major world events to try to get different points of view. They may all be untrue (or at least biased) but at least it helps to find the kernal of truty. I remember watching the news during the first gulf war (the one in Kuwait) and I saw a Turkish news broadcast which was VERY different than US, UK and even Australian news.

2) Writing about real events in fiction seems a tricky business to me. I try to avoid it mainly because I just don't understand where you cross the line into something that you can be sued over. I've heard a lot of opinions and they vary greatly. Having some real events as a background to set a time and/or place is often important, but if it is done as a normal member of society, I think it's a lot easier. If you're trying to write as a person involved, it does get tricky. And as you say, blurs (even further) the line between journalism and fiction and I think we need to do our best to not blur that line.Laura Rittenhousehttp://www.laurarittenhouse.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3744476144670229998.post-19106310090186128732010-11-25T17:54:33.425+00:002010-11-25T17:54:33.425+00:00Simple answer Yes!
