I've added this page to show another side of my creative spirit. I started off my working life as a professional photographer but, due to many complex issues, gave up on this way back in the mid 1980s. Only when I bought a
digital SLR, an Olympus, for my 60th birthday did I take up the craft again. I've always loved making pictures. My adoptive father was a photographer, but his interests lay in the cameras, as gadgets, and his pictures were more or less entirely either family snaps or professional weddings, which he shot as a second job throughout his working life. My mother, who died when I was 16, was a gifted painter. She won a scholarship at the Slade Art School as a young woman, but her father, a bigoted man, decided he couldn't afford the uniform she would need, so she never got to take advantage of this opportunity. My daughter, Kate, gained a degree in Photography at UCLAN earlier this year, and is planning to take her skills with her when she travels.
My DSLR died a while ago and I've replaced it with something called a 'bridge' camera. This has the advantage of a DSLR in that I can still use the viewfinder (I find the screen difficult for composing pictures and almost totally useless when the sun is shining). But it's also very light and compact, so it's easier to cart around. It's a
Fujifilm Finepix S and, now that I've got to grips with its functions, I'm okay with it, for the time being. But I'll replace it with something better once I'm in a position to do so.
Here, on this page, are some of my pictures. Over time, this collection will slowly grow. For more landscape pictures of the places I've visited, please visit

It's a pity your mum didn't make it to study Art, I'm sure she would have been good. It seems to run in your family with photography and writing.
I liked your unusual photos, very nice. Thank you for sharing them. Cheers!
Thanks, Jenni. Mum did a bit of painting in what little spare time she had with 4 kids to care for. Had she lived longer, I'm sure she'd have found time to become a well known artist. I'm intending to add to this gallery over time; time being the restrictive aspect at present.
